I just saw a wonderful--truly wonderful--documentary about the power we all have to make our lives better by seeing things for what they are instead of what we think they are.
The film is called Free the Mind and is in limited release all over the US. It focuses on two returning veterans suffering from PTSD and on a little boy named Will who was abandoned at birth, cycled through a variety of foster homes and at the age of five is dealing with a serious case of ADHD. All three of them use the techniques from mindfulness and meditation to change their lives for the better with amazing results.
Being a clinician I thought the film would be educational but I was caught off guard by the power of this film to help us empathize with people who want to be happy. I'm not afraid to admit I had many beliefs confirmed, learned a few things and also shed some surprising tears towards the movie's end.
While most of you wont be able to see it in the theater, it will soon be on-line for rental and hopefully appear on TV as well.
Free your mind by seeing it.
